haphazard head-trip

Welcome to my world. I'm Smithee - full-time mother, high school English teacher, wannabe writer. This is where I rant and rave about the world. Feel free to do the same.

When Sympathy Isn't Enough

One of the weirdest effects of this whole blogging thing is how it can make you feel like you are friends with people you've never met. You can learn the most intimate details of their lives, if they choose to share them. Hopes, dreams, goals, failures, successes, struggles, moments of bliss, and unbearable moments of sadness. All are worn on the sleeve of the internet. Seeing the innermost feelings of people you don't actually know can make you feel like you've known them forever.

Which is why you can be brought to tears when one of your virtual friends suffers a great loss. I don't want to intrude on his and his family's privacy by specifying what's happened. Suffice it to say that Magazine Man is going through the worst pain a parent can know, and I desperately wish there were something I could do. Something I could say to make it better, but I know that's impossible. The only thing I can do is send my thoughts and prayers his way, and ask that anyone who happens to come across this post do the same.
